Safety & Community Standards

MyKink was built by people in the kink community, and safety is at the heart of everything we do. This page explains our community standards, how we keep members safe, and how we comply with our obligations under the UK Online Safety Act 2023.

Our commitment

We believe that kink and BDSM communities deserve a safe, private, and well-moderated space. That means:

• Active, human moderation — not just automated filters
• Clear community standards that everyone is held to equally
• Fast response to reports of harmful content or behaviour
• Zero tolerance for any content that harms or exploits others
• Consent as a non-negotiable foundation of the entire platform

Age verification

MyKink is strictly 18+. Every member must provide payment via a credit or debit card, which acts as our primary age assurance mechanism. This satisfies the age assurance requirements set out by Ofcom under the UK Online Safety Act 2023.

If you suspect a member may be under 18, please report them immediately using the report function on their profile. We will investigate and act swiftly.

Community standards

Consent comes first

Everything on MyKink operates within a framework of consent. Messaging preferences exist to let members control who can contact them. Hard limits exist to prevent unwanted content from reaching people who have opted out. Respect these systems — they are not optional.

Respect boundaries

If someone says no, or has indicated through their profile settings that they are not interested in a particular type of interaction, that is final. Persistence after a clear boundary has been set is harassment and will be treated as such.

Protect privacy

Many of our members are not publicly out about their kinks or sexuality. Never share another member's personal information, real name, photos, or identifying details outside of MyKink without their explicit consent. This includes screenshots of private conversations.

Be honest

Be truthful about who you are, your age, and your intentions. Misrepresentation erodes trust for everyone.

What we do not allow

The following will result in immediate account termination and may be reported to law enforcement:

• Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) — any content that sexualises minors, including written fiction. There are no exceptions.
• Non-consensual intimate images — sharing intimate images of a person without their consent is illegal and will result in referral to the police.
• Harassment and threats — targeted abuse, threats of violence, or sustained harassment of any member.
• Doxing — sharing private information about another person without their consent.
• Hate content — content that promotes hatred on the basis of race, religion, gender, sexuality, disability, or any other protected characteristic.

How to report

Every piece of content on MyKink can be reported. Look for the report option on posts, profiles, messages, and gallery items. When you report something, tell us:

• What you are reporting
• Why you believe it violates our standards
• Any additional context that might help our moderation team

Reports are reviewed by our moderation team, typically within 24 hours. For urgent reports involving potential illegal content or immediate safety concerns, we prioritise same-day review.

How we handle reports

When a report is received, our moderation team will:

• Review the reported content in context
• Take action if the content violates our standards — this may include removal, suspension, or permanent ban
• Refer to law enforcement if the content is potentially illegal
• Follow up with the reporter where appropriate

We do not tolerate false or malicious reports. Repeatedly filing false reports is itself a violation of our community standards.

Protecting yourself

We encourage all members to:

• Use a username that does not reveal your real identity
• Think carefully before sharing personal information with new connections
• Use your messaging preference settings to control who can contact you
• Set hard limits to prevent unwanted content from reaching your feed
• Trust your instincts — if something feels wrong, report it and step away

If you are meeting someone in person that you connected with on MyKink, please follow standard safe meeting practices: meet in a public place first, tell someone you trust where you are going, and do not share your home address until you have established trust.

UK Online Safety Act compliance

MyKink takes its obligations under the UK Online Safety Act 2023 seriously. Our key compliance measures include:

• Age assurance: card-verified age assurance on subscription, satisfying Ofcom's minimum standard
• Children's Risk Assessment: conducted and documented prior to launch
• Content moderation: active human moderation with clear escalation procedures
• Reporting mechanism: accessible reporting on all content types
• Transparency: clear Terms of Service and community standards
• Illegal content: zero tolerance policy with referral to law enforcement where required
